The WEC engineering approach is to conduct a systematic approach to root cause analysis (RCA) working alongside the clients’ team to ensure that an effective problem statement is agreed and that all necessary information is identified prior to embarking on any investigation.

• Our highly experienced Systems engineers are able to quickly adapt to any situation enabling rapid functional understanding and determination of the sequence of events leading to the problem.
• Chairing incident reviews and using techniques such as Ishikawa ensures that all stakeholders are engaged and all possible relationships and causal factors are captured.
• Where available, detailed analysis and review of incident data can be undertaken helping to confirm the sequence of events and the characteristics of the incident itself.
• Correlation of the sequence of events with the nature, magnitude, location, and timing of the problem, and using the extensive knowledge of WEC engineers permits the root cause, causal factors, and non-causal factors to be distinguished. Where necessary root cause can be substantiated via testing.
• Analysis details and conclusions can be drawn together in a report together with any recommendations to prevent re-occurrence of the problem.
• Unfortunately, the establishment of a definitive root cause is not always possible and, in such cases, WEC will propose “probable root cause”.
• As required, WEC specialist engineers will work alongside a client to help implement any identified solution.
